Source quality
For factual and reference-oriented material, we prefer original, official, scholarly or otherwise authoritative sources when they are available. The appropriate source standard depends on the subject.
Accuracy and context
We try to distinguish established facts from interpretation, explain important context, and avoid presenting uncertainty as certainty. Pages may be revised as better evidence or newer information becomes available.
Useful structure
Related information should be connected rather than scattered across unnecessary copies. Where one strong page can serve the reader well, we prefer improving that page.
